First Blog Post

I would just like to introduce myself, I’m Emily andI’m a second year student at the University of Southampton. If you would like to know more about me feel free to click on ‘About Me’ from my home page. This post marks the start of my #UOSM2008 journey, I hope you find it as interesting as I will! Here’s a small Q&A:

Q1 Why did you choose the module?

I chose this module because it was unique and interesting compared to any of the other modules I have taken. I think it will be very valuable in learning new skills online, which I can use in the future. Being able to use a blog and interact online is a great way for businesses to grow and develop and to carry that skill would improve my employability.

Q2 What in particular do you want to learn from the module?

I would like to increase my confidence in using the internet and improve my technical skills, for example being able to run a blog and create online materials. I would also like to become more confident in sourcing and referencing information, and being able to use them in my work. Not only this but I would like to keep my blog once I have developed the skills and use it as a professional blog. I would also like to gain the skills that come with learning to study in an online environment and manage my own deadlines. I also hope to improve in the way I self-assess and critique others.

Q3 Which degree programme are you studying?

I am a second year student studying BSC Economics.

Q4 Have you studied online before?

I have never studied in an online environment before and I am looking forward to experiencing it.

I have assessed my current skills when starting this module to allow me to see how I have developed once I reach the end. You can view my self test here, self-test.
